Son & Garden | Our Story

Chef Kasem's Dream
Chef Kasem Saengsawang had a simple, beautiful idea: build a space where people could gather around a table and feel, genuinely, like they'd stepped into a garden in full bloom. Not a theme — a feeling.

The Most Dramatic Opening
Son & Garden threw its grand opening garden tea party on March 15, 2020 — one day before San Francisco's shelter-in-place order closed the city. Most restaurants never recover from that kind of beginning. This one bloomed anyway.

From Polk Street To The Peninsula
What started on Polk Street in San Francisco grew to a second home on Merrill Street in Menlo Park — complete with a giraffe sculpture out front that has quietly become a neighborhood landmark. Two gardens, one spirit.

Every Plate Is Intentional
Korean-inspired bibimbap meets cloud-soft French toast crowned with cotton candy and edible flowers — Chef Kasem designs every dish to delight the eye as much as the palate.

Your Seat Is Waiting
Whether you're celebrating something grand or simply treating a Tuesday like it deserves to be treated, there's a place set for you here. Bring your people — the garden is open.
